Job Purpose
The purpose of the job is to explore and develop Business opportunities for Horizon Terminals Limited within an assigned territory (Middle East, Africa & Far East) including:
Establishing synergies between existing accounts and new terminalling projects,
Managing cross border acquisitions of existing terminal projects,
Identifying potential synergies with the other Group departments (Shipping, LPG, Trading),
Identifying prime locations for new terminalling projects,
Start and complete, with the help of the other Group departments, the necessary feasibility and maintain the relationships with all parties involved in a project,
To continuously interact with external parties such as oil Majors & Traders, Petrochemicals & Edible Oil Manufacturers, to establish the commercials viability of Projects
Principal Accountabilities
Undertake studies from primary & secondary sources for Oil & Petro-chemical & Vegetable and LPG sectors. Identifies key players at a particular location who could be prospective business partners and gathers data on their strategies, Presents data and information for identifying new business opportunities to HTL Management.
Evaluates and assesses the most viable business opportunities for meeting profitability targets, both medium and long term, and presents finding at corporate level. Identifies critical success factors, programmes and business enablers for new business opportunities.
Work with major stakeholders in the selected territory on feasibility studies to produce mutually agreeable business plans.
Assists in developing cost estimates for new terminal and upgrade/modification projects. Carries out detailed feasibility study on cost and schedule. Submits recommendations for new projects with cost data and justification.
Analyses in co operation with the other Group departments, technicall and
operationally, the preliminary draft proposal of the tender and ensures that all requirements are incorporated. Reviews tenders and summary of bids.
Monitors projects progress in co-ordination with engineering/consultations and contractors and minimizes slippage, so as to meet schedule. Attends site meetings and arranges progress meeting for management review.
Reviews and endorses contracts & Closure at bid & project award in liaison with project team and other Group departments involved (Legal, SPBD, Group Finance). Managers the drafting of compliant subcontracts.
Maintains effective communication within clients and shareholders.
Develops Horizon Terminals' brand name as a recognised world wide independent terminal operator within the territory.
Additional Principal Accountabilities
Experience
A university graduate in Engineering with at least 10 years of experience in Oil/Gas & Petro-chemical Industry.
Substantial Knowledge of the Oil Terminal Business is essential.
Knowledge of the Shipping business is a plus.
Should posses sound knowledge of Project Management Techniques apart from sound technical knowledge. Familiarity with terminal practices would be an advantage.
Terminalling activities being geographically wide-spread the complexities are varied depending on the host country of the project, therefore adaptability to different cultures is required.
Ability to analyse, interpret and apply sound judgement is crucial in evaluating new projects. Competence to prepare expenditure request with cost and justification is required combined with computer literacy with application packages in use at HTL.
Strong leadership, motivation and training skills are important apart from which strong analytical skills. Planning and scheduling skills and decision making ability are also required,
The degree of complexity will be specific to each situation and hence the incumbent is required to resolve problems professionally, diligently and with expertise and diplomacy.
